Library Work

Malana currently serves as a research services librarian at the Boston Public Library. She has worked in a variety of library settings, including public, academic, special, and prison libraries. A core focus of her academic research has been digital equity, and she remains a research affiliate of the Digital Equity Research Lab of the New York Metropolitan Library Council. In 2022, she was selected as a Breaking Barriers scholarship winner, a project of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association dedicated to making a school-independent organization for Black library school students. She has worked as a grant writer and on numerous IMLS-funded projects.
